A foreigner has been arrested for brewing alcohol in a residential building in Male' City.

Maldives Police Service (MPS) told the media on Thursday that Police received reports regarding smoke coming from a building in Roashanee Magu around 0612hrs.

Police knocked on the doors and received no response, leading the authorities to break into the building, MPS said. MPS added that they found equipment used to brew alcohol in the residence.

MPS has arrested a 34-year-old foreigner in relation to the incident. Police said investigation is underway.
