Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed that 497 cases of Dengue Fever has been reported this past two months alone.

This marks an increase of 480 cases in comparison to the same period last year.

Statistics published by HPA show that while 268 cases of Dengue were reported in August, the same period last year saw only nine reported cases. The numbers decreased in September with 229 cases, though the same period last year saw only eight reported cases.

While the number of cases as of late has been increasing, there has been two deaths related to the fever this month, which involves a child and a young man.

Doctors have been appealing to take preventive measures due to the rise in cases.

HPA statistics also revealed that the most commonly reported disease was the common cold, with 25,713 reported in August and 33,584 reported in September.
