A child has passed away while seeking treatment for Dengue Fever.

Paediatrician Ahmed Faisal revealed to One Online that a child who was brought from Raa Atoll for further treatment for Dengue Fever had passed away. Aiminath Haya Hussain was 8 years of age when she passed away.

Dr Faisal noted that the child was in a serious condition when brought to Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital, and that she passed away this morning while being treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

The number of Dengue cases had risen lately. The doctor also noted that the number of children diagnosed with the fever is particularly high. He further added that even though there are no critical cases, there were children currently being treated for the fever.

Dengue fever is a mosquito-borne tropical disease caused by the dengue virus. Symptoms typically begin three to fourteen days after infection. These may include a high fever, headache, vomiting, muscle and joint pains, and a characteristic skin itching and skin rash. Recovery generally takes two to seven days.
