Bank of Maldives (BML) has announced the islands for the Fehi Project which was launched in June 2022.

The Fehi Project was introduced as part of BML's 40th Anniversary monthly initiatives. The 5-year project aims to provide 50,000 trees to reforest and rejuvenate island spaces in 5 islands each year.

The 5 islands selected for 2022 are:

  • N. Maafaru
  • Lh. Hinnavaru
  • M. Dhiggaru
  • Th. Guraidoo
  • G.Dh.Gadhdhoo

BML said the bank will provide 10,000 plants sourced from local nurseries to each island.

BML added that the project will help accelerate the much-needed establishment of healthy vegetation on the island and also create positive social impact among the communities. The project will also aid in preventing soil erosion, reducing temperatures, offsetting carbon emissions, and provide a healthy climate overall, BML said.

The BML Fehi Project was opened exclusively for Island and City Councils.
