Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) CEO Adam Azim has said the MTCC will open opportunity to train female captains for RTL ferries.
Speaking to 'Sosal', Azim said he hopes to see female captains on RTL ferries. He added that although MTCC had reserved 50% of the slots for women, they had not received any applications from female captains.
"We will announce slots for female captains soon. We will also open training opportunities for women interested in becoming ferry captains", Azim said.
He added that MTCC will announce training opportunities for women to become captains.
MTCC had previously also announced opportunities for women who wanted to become MTCC bus drivers. Several women who passed the trainings are currently working as bus drivers.
