Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) on Tuesday held a ceremony to mark the physical work commencement of Madaveli-Hoandehdhoo Causeway Project.

MP Hussain Firushan, CEO Adam Azim, and senior officials of MTCC participated in the ceremony.

MTCC noted that water currents will not be affected by the causeway, which can also be utilized by heavy vehicles.

The company revealed that the scope of works includes 260m of shore protection, 2,544cbm segment concrete works, 285 spun pile installation, 4,596m asphalt laying works on causeway, 1,378m paving works, 3,144m subbase construction, and asphalt laying works of the approach road, road markings, paving works, and installation of streetlights.

MTCC further added that since the causeway would greatly benefit the residents of the islands, they will complete the project within schedule.

The value of the project is MVR 84.17 million and was awarded to MTCC by the Planning Ministry on October 26th, 2021.
