President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih is set to visit the United Kingdom to attend the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away last Thursday.
Queen Elizabeth passed away at the age of 96 in Balmoral Castle. At the time of her death, the monarch had ruled for 70 years. Following her death, Prince Charles succeeded her as King Charles III.
The spokesperson at the President's Office, Miuvan Mohamed revealed to One Online that the President had accepted an invitation to attend the funeral. However, no further details were disclosed.
The State Funeral of Her Majesty The Queen will take place at Westminster Abbey on Monday 19th September. Prior to the State Funeral, The Queen will Lie-in-State in Westminster Hall for four days, to allow the public to pay their respects.
President Solih had declared a three-day mourning period following the death of the Queen.
