Jumhooree Party (JP) Leader, Qasim Ibrahim has stated that the government did not even come close to honoring the coalition agreement.
Speaking during the 'Fashaairu' program by Raajje TV, Qasim stated that he does not believe a government can come to power without the help of a coalition.
He further added that once a government is elected, they completely disregard coalitions. As such, he stated that the government of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih had not even come close to honoring the coalition agreement.
He highlighted that even though the government and ruling party MDP had not officially declared the coalition over, the agreements made by the coalition remain largely unfulfilled. He noted that only about 10 percent of the agreements have been fulfilled.
He however noted that the current government's coalition is better than any previous and that due credit should be given to the President.
Qasim further revealed that JP will be in the race for the 2023 Presidency with their own candidate, adding that no party has approached them to make a coalition yet.
Currently, the ruling coalition is made up of JP, Adhaalath Party, MDP, and Maumoon Reform Movement.
