Maldives Minister of Tourism, Abdulla Mausoom has stated that the they are working towards making the Maldives an accessible destination for persons with disabilities.
The minister's statement came during his speech at the International Maldives Travel Market (IMTM).
Speaking during the ceremony held at the Manhattan Business Hotel, Minister Mausoom stated that under the master plan to further expand tourism in the Maldives, works are being done to make the destination accessible to all.
Under this plan, the country aims to be the best holiday destination for persons with disabilities.
Speaking on accessible arrangments that are already available at popular hotels across the Maldives, the Minister stressed that it was important to ensure equal and accessible service to all at a time when the Maldives is growing in the hospitality sector.
The Minister also highlighted that under their works to promote Maldives tourism during the pandemic, the country had won the World's Leading Destination in 2020 and 2021. He expressed his hopes to achieve the title for a third consecutive year as well.
IMTM is a B2B international travel and trade fair held in the Maldives where tour operators and travel agencies explore potential opportunities in the Maldives and network with industry leaders.
