President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said that the Parliament's actions can lead to a stop in the government's efforts. He added that this will hence end up ceasing efforts to fulfil the current administration’s campaign pledges.
The President said this while speaking at an event where himself and former President Mohamed Nasheed met with Parliamentary candidates of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
President Solih noted that there are various reasons why Parliament plays a vital role and one of them is that the authority of Parliament is enormous. He said that this authority extends to the point where the actions of Parliament result in the stopping of government efforts.
The President said in his address that MDP should win a majority at Parliament and that the party is still moving forward with all efforts to ensure that campaign pledges come to fruition.
