The Maldives Tourism Update Report published by the Ministry of Tourism has revealed that the tourist arrivals to the Maldives still loom below pre-pandemic levels.
Statistics in the report show that the island nation saw a total of 1.7 million tourist arrivals in 2019 before the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. While the number has surpassed that of 2021 this year, it still remains below the pre-pandemic level, with 1.5 million arrivals to date in 2022.
This marks a 4.8 percent decrease in total arrivals compared to 2019, and a 45% increase compared to the previous year.
