Renowned sheikh Adam Nishan Bin Ali's remand period has been increased by 16 days pertaining to International Yoga Day violence.

Sheikh Nishan was remanded for 7 days following the violence at the national stadium during International Yoga Day celebration on 21 June.

Since then, his remand period has been extended by Criminal Court, the latest remand extension order being issued on Tuesday.

Sheikh Nishan and sheikh Fazloon have appealed to High Court over their remand periods.

Of the 21 people arrested in relation to the incident, seven people have been released.
