Minister of Defense, Mariya Ahmed Didi, is to be summoned to the Parliamentary sitting taking place tomorrow.

The Minister is to appear at Parliament at the specially designated time for questioning Cabinet members at Parliament - 9:00 am.

Opposition members have said previously that Minister Mariya is being summoned to answer for the comments she made in an interview given to Indian media whole on an official trip. The Minister had said in the interview that Indian Defense forces could take over Maldives if they so desired.

While Minister Mariya is being summoned to Parliament tomorrow, opposition parties have said previously that they have proposed to enact a vote of no confidence against her at Parliament. The opposition parties are the People’s National Congress (PNC) and Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM).

This vote of no confidence however has yet to be scheduled in the Parliamentary agenda.

The vote of no confidence has also been proposed regarding the same interview given to Indian media by Minister Mariya.

The Minister had previously defended her comments in the interview and said that her words were taken out of context.
