Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) has advised caution over fake thyroid medicine circulating in the market.
MFDA released a statement on Tuesday stating that India's Thelangana Drugs Control Administration has highlighted that there is a counterfeit of Thyroxine Sodium (Thyronorm 100mcg) which is produced by India's Acme Generics LLP currently circulating in the market.
MDFA added that the batch of medicine is banned for import and sale in the Maldives and appealed to the public to reach our to the authority's number - 7200321 - if anyone had information regarding the counterfeit.
MDFA also added that the authority is currently testing samples of the medicine available in the market as a precautionary measure.
How to identify the counterfeit:
MFDA stated that the authority is checking whether this medicine can be brought into Maldives through ports of entry.
