Transport Ministry has raised the taxi fares for rides within the Greater Male' Region.

A statement issued by the Ministry noted that in light of raised fuel prices in the Maldives, the Ministry has decided to raise the prices of taxi fares and added that these changes will be effective 12:00am tonight.

Changes to Taxi-Fares:

- Rides within Male' and Hulhumale': MVR 30

- Male to Hulhumale' Phase I: MVR 80

- Male to Hulhumale' Phase II: MVR 100

- Male to Huhule: MVR 70

- Hulhumale' Phase I to Hulhule: MVR 80

- Hulhumale' Phase II to Hulhule: MVR 85

- Hulhumale' Phase I to Hulhumale' Phase II: MVR 40

The change in taxi fares comes at a time when Taxi Drivers had held discussions during June to increase the fares after STO had raised fuel prices in the country.
