State Trading Organisation (STO) has decided to limit fuel supplies to sellers in islands.
STO's Managing Director and CEO stated that the decision was made to stop illicit trade of fuel from suppliers to resorts. He added that STO will sell fuel at subsidised rates to the public, fishing vessels, and fuel suppliers in the islands. However, fuel prices will remain at a fair price for resorts, he said.
He further added that STO has noticed that fuel suppliers are buying large quantities and trying to sell to resorts. As such, to put a stop to illicit fuel trade, STO will limit the fuel sold to suppliers in islands, he said.
