Alimatha Resort by Nakai Resort Group has been fined over MVR 300,000 by Environment Protection Agency (EPA) for dumping waste in the ocean.
EPA issued a statement on Monday that Alimatha Resort had disregarded the waste management regulations in Maldives by dumping perishable waste in the ocean.
As such, EPA fined Alimatha Resort with MVR 312,750 on 3 July.
The resort is required to pay the fine within 30 days.
