Civil Court on Thursday ordered former MP Alhan Fahmy to make repayment of his Bank of Maldives (BML) loan of MVR 6,396,099.46 within 3 months.
The court order was issued to Alhan and his family members including Ahzan Fahmy, Hamid Fahmy, and Mohamed Fahmy. BML took the family to Civil Court over delayed repayment of the loan.
BML is seeking the loan amount inclusive of the interest and the late fines.
Civil Court issued the order in the absence of the Fahmy family as no one showed to court for the hearing. The court order stated that Alhan and family had failed to make loan payments. As such, the order included that M. Finivaage 2 would remain under BML as mortgage until the loan has been paid in full.
Maldives Police Services (MPS) had previously also brought Alhan and his brother Shahuban for questioning over accusations of running a Ponzi scheme.
