The government has opened application for Male' residents for 3,000 land plots and 4,000 flats under its housing scheme.

A special portal was launched for applications by Housing Minister, Mohamed Aslam, at a ceremony held at President's Office on Sunday.

The government has gazetted the terms and requirements to be met by applicants for the land plots under this scheme. As such, applications can be made individually or jointly.

Land plot applicants must meet the following requirements;

  • Must not have been under residency in any place other than Male' at any time
  • Must be 18 years and above
  • Must not have a land plot measuring more than 600sqft registered under applicant’s name in Male’
  • Must relinquish ownership of land plots smaller than 600sqft in Male' as per regulations
  • Must not have been a recipient of social housing from the Government
  • Must be willing to relinquish ownership of any land plot applicant stands to inherit from Male’
  • Must not have given or sold a land plot registered to applicant’s name in Male’ to a third-party

Flat applicants must meet the following requirements;

  • Must be a Maldivian
  • Must be 18 years and above
  • Must be a Male' resident or lived in Male' for the past 15 years
  • Must not have bought agreed to buy, or made payment for a land plot more than 600sqft
  • Must not gave given or sold a land plot measuring more than 600sqft to a third-party
  • Must not be a recipient of social housing from the Government
  • Must not have an individual monthly income higher than MVR 60,000
