Family Court Chief Judge appointed to High Court

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has appointed Chief Judge of the Family Court, Huzaifa Mohamed to the High Court.

A statement by the JSC noted that from the candidates that applied to the position, Judge Huzaifa was appointed to the post after the committee that appoints judges recommended her as a "highly recommended" candidate for the position.

Huzaifa has worked as a judge for more than 14 years. She was appointed as the Chief Judge of the Family Court in March last year, becoming the first woman to be appointed as the Chief Justice of a Superior Court in the Maldives.

She will be sworn in as a High Court judge on the 27th of this month.
