A man has been sentences to 57 years in prison for sexually abusing a minor in his family.

The man convicted of the crime, Ahmed Azmeen, Thundeege, V. Keyodhoo, had five charges brought against him.

Charges against Azmeen include:

  • Possession of pornography
  • Offence of inciting a child family member to engage in sexual activity
  • Offence of forcing a person to watch a sexual act
  • Abuse of position of trust: sexual activity with a child
  • Abuse of position of trust: causing a child to watch a sexual act

Azmeen was found guilty of all charges except possession of pornography and abuse of position of trust: sexual activity with a child.

Azmeen was sentenced to 57 years and will serve 54 years in prison, having spent 2 years and 9 months in remand.
