The total number of COVID-19 related deaths in the Maldives has risen to 300 after a COVID patient has passed away in Hulhumale.

Commissioner of Quality Assurance at the Ministry of Health, Thasleema Usman revealed to One Online that a patient being treated at the Hulhumale Covid Facility had passed away this morning.

As per sources, the patient was a Maldivian woman. However, her age remains unconfirmed as of now.

Thasleema further added that there are three patients currently being treated for Covid at the facility, with one of them being treated in the ICU.

With this most recent death, a total of 281 locals and 19 foreigners has passed away so far. The highest reported COVID deaths on a single day in the Maldives has been on 25 May 2021 where 13 deaths were reported.

The first COVID-related reported in the country was reported on 29 April 2020 following the death of an 83-year-old local woman.
