Maldives Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has signed a research agreement with Villa College to allow interested research students to conduct research for the company.
At a ceremony held at MWSC Customer Centre on Tuesday, the agreement was signed on behalf of MWSC by Managing Director and CEO, Hassan Shah. Villa College's Rector Dr. Ahmed Anwar signed on behalf of the College.
Speaking about the agreement, Shah said that MWSC will share research areas with Villa college, and welcomed interested students to partake in the research.
Shah added that the research will be carried out with the assistance of experienced staff from MWSC, and that the research students will be provided an allowance and monetary assistance needed for the research.
He further added that the best research students would be given the opportunity to present their research to international organisations that MWSC holds membership to at conferences. The expenses for student participation and travel for conferences will be borne by MWSC, Shah added.
Shah said that the research agreement will pave way for students to become research scholars in various areas and serve the community better.
Dr. Anwar said that Villa College is one of the leading institutes for research in the Maldives. As such, he added that Villa College boasts its own research department and conference.
He further added that the College has capable research experts who will shape and train students to become research scholars who can present their research at international conferences.
