Velaa Private Island closed for renovations, set to reopen in September

Velaa Private Island has closed its doors to tourists as the island gears up for renovations and improvements.

General Manager Wayne Milgate revealed that the resort will be closing for four months from 15 May to 15 September.

The resort, counted among the top tier luxury hotels in the Maldives, revealed that there will be significant improvements to their Food & Beverage services and Spa & Wellness services upon re-opening.

"We plan to build a wellness village. In addition to our current beautiful overwater spa, we’ll have a spa on land, offering a more holistic wellness experience, plus a yoga pavilion, an enclosed glass Pilates studio and a brand new wellness restaurant with raw food and other spa cuisines," Wayne revealed.

The resort also revealed that they are going to be extending their tennis court roof over the paddle tennis, squash and beach volleyball courts, as well. In addition to this, renovation works are ongoing in the rooms and food and beverage areas.

The resort aims to complete everything by their ninth anniversary in December 2022.
