Former president and Speaker of Parliament, Mohamed Nasheed, has stated that now is not the time to push personal interests, in response to President Solih expressing interest to run for 2023 elections.
Nasheed took to Twitter to say that now is not the time to act on personal interests, but to work on building the foreign reserve and ensuring public wellbeing.
Nasheed's remarks come in the wake of President Solih's press conference on Wednesday in which he stated he is confident he can win the elections for MDP alongside the coalition.
President Solih stated that MDP's presidential candidate should be decided through a primary in accordance to the Party's regulations, and that it is crucial for MDP to win elections to ensure the ongoing projects are completed.
