President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said that he is confident he can win presidential elections alongside the coalition if chosen as MDP's presidential candidate.

Speaking at a press conference at President's Office on Wednesday, President Solih stated that no party alone can win 50% votes in the elections. He added, however, that with the existing coalition, he is confident that he can win the elections for MDP.

"I am confident I can win the 2023 elections for MDP alongside the coalition. MDP alone cannot win the elections. MDP congress has to decide the presidential candidate. I can give assurance that I am confident I can win the elections. If MDP wants to win elections in 2023, I am the choice", President Solih said.

He added that MDP should decide the presidential candidate through a primary as is stated in MDP regulations.

He further added that it is crucial for MDP to win the elections, stating that the parties can win elections through a coalition.

President Solih stated that it is crucial for MDP to win the elections to ensure the continuation of the ongoing projects.
