Minister of Arts, Culture and Heritage Yumna Maumoon has said that every nation’s history is intertwined with memories of its people. She further said that these historical memories need to be revived and awakened.

The Minister said this while speaking at the official event marking National History Day 2019.

She noted that the past history and memories of this nation are of paramount significance.

As such, she reiterated that we must now learn our lessons from past incidents that have taken place, or important figures throughout history and the manner in which they took action.

The Minister of Arts, Culture and Heritage noted that it is for these reasons that history plays such an important role. She added that we should therefore direct various efforts to revive and awaken this history.

Minister Yumna said that history should also be taught in a way that evokes the interest of its students. She noted the significance of setting the goal of generating interest in this nation’s history among the youth of Maldives.
