The Nature Park developed at Hdh. Kumundhoo has been set ablaze.

Kumundhoo Council President Ameen Mohamed revealed to ONE Online that the council received news of the 'Vehisara' park being set ablaze around 5:00am this morning. He noted that the fire was not under control at that time.

Ameen highlighted that about 95% of the park had been destroyed in the fire, and described the arson attack as a painful incident for the island and it's residents.

He further added that while they do not suspect that the arson attack was by any visitors, there are no suspects on the island either.

The Nature Park had been developed by a non-governmental organization based at the island that goes by the name 'Kurevi Jamiyya', who had handed over the park to the Council two years ago.

Police also confirmed that they had received reports of the arson attack at 6:00am this morning, and added that it is currently an ongoing investigation even though no arrests have been made yet.
