Maldives Media Council (MMC)'s president, Shahuban Fahmy, has resigned from his post on Tuesday.
Shahuban's resignation comes in the wake of MMC's failed attempts to take a no-confidence vote against him following the Kings Forex Ponzi scheme scandal.
At a press conference held at MMC on Tuesday, Shahuban denied the allegations against him, stating that he does not owe money to anyone. He said the no-confidence motion against him was politically driven, and that his resignation is for personal safety.
Shahuban went on to say that a no-confidence motion against him will not win majority votes. He added that MMC's work shouldn't come to a standstill due to personal grudges against him.
