A man has been arrested in Sh. Feydhoo for stabbing his wife in the stomach during a domestic dispute.

Maldives Police Service (MPS) confirmed to 'One' that a 37-year-old man has been arrested on Thursday night following reports of violence.

Speaking to 'One', Sh. Feydhoo Council President Ahmed Raisam said that he received a call around 2130 hours on Thursday night regarding the dispute.

He added that he found the woman stabbed in the stomach and informed MPS about the incident. Raisam further added that the woman was taken to the health centre and that her condition is stable.

It is not immediately clear what led to the stabbing although the man has been known to physically abuse his wife in the past, Raisam said.
