Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has ordered the removal of vessels docked at Thilafushi lagoon.

In an announcement made on Thursday, HDC said that the Corporation has requested the removal of the docked vessels in the lagoon, as well as those that have sunk in the lagoon several times.

The announcement said that the delay in removal of the vessels has caused delays in the projects being run by HDC and Thilafushi Corporation in addition to environmental damages by the sunken vessels.

HDC announcement stated a 30-day period for the removal of vessels from Thilafushi lagoon. The announcement further stated that all the details of the vessels in the lagoon must be shared with HDC within the 30-day period.

Vessels remaining in Thilafushi lagoon after the 30-day period will be considered void of ownership and will be removed by HDC, the announcement said.
