Bank of Maldives has launched an online fundraising platform - 'Kindly by BML', a first of its kind in the Maldives.

The platform was launched on the sidelines of BML's 40th anniversary in November, as a part of the series of 12 high impact monthly community initiatives by the bank.

BML said the platform is safe, secure, and user-friendly and NGOs can create fundraising campaigns and accept donations to create social social impact in their line of work. NGO's can also create multiple fundraising campaigns and generate reports to keep track of donations on the platform, BML said.

Locally registered NGO's need a minimum of 2 years in operation to be eligible to register on the platform.

Speaking on crowdfunding, BML's CEO and Managing Director, Tim Sawyer, said the bank is delighted to launch the first online fundraising platform in the Maldives to allow public to donate funds to campaigns securely. He added that the idea behind 'Kindly' is to provide a safe and secure space for both fundraisers and donors to create relevant campaigns.
