A number of staff have been suspended from Vilimale Hospital for administering expired vaccine.

Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) which manages Vilimale Hospital is investigating the incident as a serious issue. Vilimale Hospital has stopped administering vaccines for the time being.

Speaking to 'One' on the issue, a media official from IGMH said that several staff have been suspended from the hospital. The official did not state the number of staff suspended or give any further details.

IGMH official added that the issue is currently under investigation and therefore they cannot release additional details.

The expired vaccine issue was brought to public attention by PPM's Vilimale Steering Committee member Aminath Seena.
