Local island council members and members of Women's Development Committees (WDC) are set to hold a conference with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to discuss the challenges they face in enforcing decentralization laws and to discuss potential solutions.
This would be the second conference of the "Viyavathi Raajje", which was a conference held at Crossroads which included all the local island councils, where discussions focused on further improving the decentralization laws.
The first conference was also attended by the Speaker of Parliament, Mohamed Nasheed.
The second conference is planned to be held in Alif Alif Atoll Ukulhas, with all the councils from Baa Atoll till Faafu Atoll, along with the Women's Development Committees.
While there are 174 people scheduled to take part in the conference, most of the sessions will be chaired by President Solih.
Spokesperson at the President's Office noted that various cabinet ministers and technical personnel from different institutions will also take part in the conference.
