State Trading Organisation (STO) has tested ready-mix concrete (cement) to be used in construction of Thilamale' Bridge.

STO stated that the concrete testing was successfully carried out in the industrial zone in Male' last night.

STO signed an MoU on 14 May with India's Afcon Infrastructure to provide 7,500cbm of ready-mix concrete for the Thilamale' Bridge Project.

Afcon was awarded the Thilamale' Bridge Projection August 2021 to be completed within two years. The project is being carried out under USD 100 million grant aid and USD 400 million line of credit from India.

Scope of work for the project include building a 6.7km bridge with a causeway link with traffic lights and bus stations, solar panels and lighting.

The Government of Maldives projects the Thilamale' Bridge construction will be completed by 2024.
