India donates Anti-TB meds to Maldives

India has donated Anti-Tuberculosis (TB) medicine to the Maldives.

At a ceremony held at Health Ministry on Thursday, the medicine was donated on behalf of Indian High Commission by Chargé d'Affaires, Rohit Rathish. The medicine was received by State Minister Shah Abdulla.

Health Ministry said that the donation included over 27,000 tablets of various Anti-TB medications. The donation also included Multidrug-Resistant Tuberculosis (MDR-TB).

Indian High Commission stated that the Anti-TB medicine will aid in eradicating TB from the Maldives by 2025. The commission added that the donation was made under India's 'Neighbourhood First' policy.

TB is a treatable disease with medicine. However, according to health organisations, TB is one of the most widespread diseases as well.
