The new Non-Resident High Commissioner of the Republic of South Africa to Republic opt Maldives, H.E Sandile Edwin Schalk, has presented his credentials to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Tuesday.

During the meeting held at Presidents Office, President Solih stated that the Maldives remains committed to strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation between South Africa and Maldives.

President Solih added that the Maldives looks forward to establishing a Maldives High Commission in Pretoria, South Africa - the first Maldivian High Commission established in Africa.

President Solih and the High Commissioner also spoke on improving tourism, infrastructure development, and enhance collaboration. Maldives and South Africa established diplomatic relations in July 1994.
