Chairperson of Parliamentary Committee on Independent Institutions and MP for Addu-Meedhoo constituency, Rozaina Adam, has said that she will not be forced into anything unconstitutional even if a vote of no confidence is imposed. She said that she will not give into scare tactics or take any action against the rules and regulations of Parliament.
MP Rozaina said this following a motion at Parliament to implement a vote of no confidence against her as the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Independent Institutions.
The MP for Addu-Meedhoo constituency took to twitter last night to provide a response against the vote of no confidence. She said that there is no way that an issue under judicial process can be addressed at Parliament before it has been concluded at the courts. She added that the process has always been this way.
The MP for Fonadhoo constituency and interim Leader of the People’s National Congress (PNC), Abdul Raheem Abdulla, spoke at a press conference held by the Progressive Coalition yesterday afternoon. He had said that the detention of former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom is unconstitutional.
As such, the issue of this detention has been submitted to the Parliamentary Committee on Independent Institutions. MP Abdul Raheem has said regarding the matter that MP Rozaina Adam is obstructing the process at Parliament.
