President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has ratified the seventh amendment to Civil Service Commission (CSC) Act today.

The Parliament passed the amendment on 25 April 2022 during the 35th sitting of the first session.

With the ratification, new subsections were added to Section 17 of the law, specifying the duties and obligations of the CSC President as follows.

  • Implementing the decisions of the Commission
  • Presiding over Commission meetings
  • Advising and instructing the Commission on carrying out its role in a sound manner that produces effective results under the Constitution and the country's laws

The law has been gazetted following its ratification, bringing it into effect starting Tuesday.
