Elections Commission has said that the date of the Parliamentary election will remain unchanged, even if candidate that lost in primaries are able to run.

Supreme Court had ordered Election Commission to accept forms for candidates that are submitted prior to 4 March 2019, even if the candidate had lost in primaries.

This was revealed by the Commission in a tweet sent by the Chairperson of the Commission, Ahmed Shareef.

According the ruling by Supreme Court, the Elections Commission are to accept any submissions for candidacy that take place before 4:00 pm on 4 March 2019. As per the Supreme Court ruling, this includes any candidate who has submitted a form to run in the Parliamentary elections after a loss in party primaries.

The next Parliamentary elections are to take place on 6 April 2019.
