President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih is set to announce details of the teacher's pay raise in his presidential address tomorrow.
Speaking to 'One', an official at Education Ministry stated that the ministry is currently working on collecting teacher's academic transcripts in lieu of the announcement tomorrow.
The pay raise for teachers was initially announced by President Solih during his annual address to Parliament. As such, the President announced a 56% raise in the salaries for graduate-level secondary school teachers from MVR 12,628 to MVR 19,740 excluding overtime.
Speaking at a gathering in Komandoo, President Solih had previously stated that Principal's would see a salary raise from 21,000 to 32,000 under the new structure.
The pay raise for teachers is one of President Solih's presidential pledges.
