No changes to hand luggage policy: Maldivian

Island Aviation Services Ltd has denied media reports about hand luggage being charged by 'Maldivian'.

Media reports on Friday stated that 'Maldivian' had charged passengers for hand luggage claiming it exceeded baggage allowance, adding that the charges were applied at the check-in counter citing the flight was full.

In response to media claims, Island Aviation issued a press release stating that 'Maldivian' has not changed their hand luggage policy. As such, all passengers on 'Maldivian' flights can carry up to 5kg in their hand luggage free of charge, Island Aviation stated.

The press release also added that if a passenger exceeds hand luggage allowance they are provided the option to check-in the additional weight as luggage on the flight.

'Maldivian' airline allows free baggage for hand luggage weighing 5 Kg - max size: 20” x 12” x 7”.
