Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Community Empowerment to develop youth under the National Apprenticeship Program.
The MOU was signed by Minister Ahmed Mahloof and HDC's Managing Director (MD) Suhail Ahmed at a ceremony held at HDC on Tuesday.
Speaking at the ceremony, MD Suhail assured of HDC's support to government's goal to train 3000 youth. He added that HDC will continue to remain committed to developing skilled youth.
The training programs held under apprenticeship program will be carried out according to the 'national competency standards' of the Maldives National Skills Development Authority. As such, youth who complete the apprenticeship program will receive a Level III certificate accredited by the Maldives Qualification Authority.
Youth will be trained in 10 fields under the 6-month apprenticeship program.
This is HDC's 5th apprenticeship program. HDC will open opportunities for 100 apprentices as well as 30 staff at HDC to partake in the program.
The National Apprenticeship Program was introduced to offer learning opportunities for youth to develop skills and gain experience under professionals.
