President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has sought parliamentary approval to recall acting current Maldivian Ambassador to Germany - Ahmed Latheef - and appoint Aishath Shan Shakir as the new Ambassador to Germany.

The request has been submitted to Parliament's Foreign Relations Committee for review on Monday by Deputy Speaker Eva Abdulla.

Aishath Shan Shakir previously filled the role of Maldivian High Commissioner to Bangladesh.
