An audit report of Maldives Broadcasting Commission (Broadcom) has revealed that their accounts receivable were at MVR 20 million.

The 2020 Audit Report released by the Auditor General's Office noted that the commission was yet to receive MVR 19.9 million by December 31st, 2020 from several parties.

The majority of this is made up by rebroadcasting licensing fees and fines, which amount up to MVR 10 million. The remainder is made up of broadcasting licensing fees and fines worth MVR 5.4 million and frequency licensing fees and fines worth MVR 4.5 million.

The sum also includes MVR 7,808 owed by employees who had resigned but were paid wages for.

The Audit Office further said that the commission had not acted in compliance with the government's fiscal policy to recover the money. Hence they had advised the commission to act in accordance to recover the money. This includes taking those who refuse to pay to the courts.
