Ooredoo Maldives has partnered with Snapchat to introduce Maldivian cultural filters on the social media app.
The Snapchat filters were introduced at a ceremony held at Ooredoo on Wednesday.
The filters were introduced as part of Ooredoo's 'Visit Maldives Now' campaign to market Maldives. The ceremony was attended by Minister of Environment, Climate Change and Technology, Aiminath Shauna and Managing Director and CEO of Ooredoo Maldives Khalid Hassan Al Hamadi. Snapchat's management also joined the ceremony via video call.
Speaking at the ceremony, Khalid stated that The Maldives can be marketed and promoted using the new AR lens and geofilter introduced today. He added that such partnerships will acquaint Maldivians and businesses across the nation with the use of AR technology.
Speaking about the importance of working with the likes of Snapchat to promote Maldives, Minister Shauna stated that technology is an integral part of people's lives and plays a vital role in development as well.
The filters introduced today showcase Maldivian cultural attire in addition to scenic beach filters.
