Russia has offered a surrender window to Ukrainian soldiers in Mariupol, Donbas, saying it will spare the lives of Ukrainian soldiers if they lay down arms on Sunday.

"All who lay down their arms are guaranteed that their lives will be spared," Russian Defence Ministry said, dictating terms in Mariupol.

As per Russia, Ukraine has lost more than 4,000 soldiers in Mariupol as of Saturday although official numbers are unclear.

Ukraine continues to resist Russian advances in the country since the start of the war on 24 February. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Saturday accused Russia of "deliberately trying to destroy everyone" in Mariupol, but has not addressed Russia's demands for surrender in the area.

Securing Mariupol will allow Russia to build a land bridge from Russia to Crimea, which would prove a major military success to Russia.
