Former Head of the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) at the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA), Ibrahim Athif Shakoor, is being summoned to the Parliamentary Committee on Finance.

The Parliament had sent out the letter summoning Athif to be present in front of the Committee, yesterday.

The letter had stated that Shakoor was being summoned before a Parliamentary Committee due to the fact that he had been the Head of FIU at the time of corruption at MMPRC.

The letter detailed that Shakoor is to present himself before the Committee at Parliament at 2:30 pm on 26 February 2019.

In a tweet posted by Shakoor yesterday, he said that he had long awaited an opportunity to be heard regarding the case.

The former head of FIU reiterated in the tweet that he would impart information on the seven months he had worked at the FIU. Shakoor also said that he would answer any queries with sincerity and honesty.
