1,030 positive cases today, 187 from Male'

The total number of COVID-19 cases in the country has risen to 159,061 after another 1,030 people have tested positive.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that from 6 p.m. yesterday to 6 p.m. today, 187 people tested positive in the Male' area along with 716 from the atolls, 67 from the resorts.

In the same time frame, 1,280 people recovered from COVID-19 raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 142,849 with another 15,910 people still in treatment including 31 people in hospitals.

There have been 289 COVID-related deaths in the Maldives that includes 270 locals, 19 foreign nationals. Maldives reported its first COVID-19 related death on 29 April 2020 following the death of an 83-year-old woman.
