The total number of COVID-19 cases in the country has risen to 158,031 after another 1,128 people have tested positive.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that from 6 p.m. yesterday to 6 p.m. today, 155 people tested positive in the Male' area along with 806 from the atolls, 65 from the resorts and three from safari yachts.

In the same time frame, 1,193 people recovered from COVID-19 raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 141,569 with another 16,161 people still in treatment including 41 people in hospitals.

There have been 288 COVID-related deaths in the Maldives that includes 269 locals, 19 foreign nationals. Maldives reported its first COVID-19 related death on 29 April 2020 following the death of an 83-year-old woman.
